Marseille

Mediterranean port of vibrant culture and light

The journal

The port smelled of diesel and grilled fish, and nobody apologized for either. I ate a bowl of bouillabaisse that took two courses and an hour to finish properly, taught by the waiter who seemed personally offended when I tried to rush it. Marseille has edges Paris sanded off long ago, and I respected that.
