I climbed to the Acropolis before the tour buses, when the marble still held the night's cool. Afterward, in a Plaka taverna, the owner brought a dish I hadn't ordered, waving off my confusion — 'you look like you need this one.' He was, infuriatingly and correctly, right about the moussaka.
