The journal

Tumuli Park at dusk turned the royal burial mounds into soft green hills against a bruised sky, joggers looping past them like it was any ordinary evening. I found that unbothered familiarity more moving than reverence would have been — a thousand years reduced to a place people jog past on Tuesdays.
