The journal

We landed at King George Island in wind that stung any bare skin within seconds, gentoo penguins utterly indifferent to our clumsy line of red parkas. One chick pecked curiously at a zodiac rope before a scientist gently shooed it off. The Chilean base's radio antenna was the only vertical line against all that white.
