The journal

Between the two lakes, I watched paragliders drift down like slow confetti while I sat with a coffee I'd forgotten to drink. A guide at my hostel talked me into a sunrise hike I wasn't dressed for, lending me a spare jacket that still smelled of woodsmoke. I never asked for it back.
