The journal

A sea lion claimed my beach towel in the Galápagos before I'd even sat down, and no one on the boat seemed surprised. I snorkeled beside a marine iguana grazing underwater like it was the most ordinary thing in the world, and understood, briefly, why Darwin never quite looked at nature the same way again.
