The journal

A potter in Pottery Square handed me his wheel and let me ruin two attempts at a bowl while he laughed without unkindness. The square smelled of clay and drying grain. Bhaktapur moved at a pace that made Kathmandu feel frantic in comparison, and I was grateful for the difference.
