The journal

Durbar Square hummed with pigeons, temple bells, and a woodcarver who let me watch him work for nearly an hour without once looking up. Dust from the earthquake repairs still hung faintly in the air. Kathmandu felt like a city patiently rebuilding itself in full view of everyone passing through.
