The journal

From a volcanic hill above Auckland, I counted sailboats scattered across the Waitematā like punctuation marks. A local I'd met at a food truck insisted this city has more boats per capita than anywhere on earth, and standing there watching the harbor breathe, I believed him without needing to check.
