The journal

Wind pushed me sideways coming out of Te Papa, and a stranger waiting at the same crossing just laughed and said 'welcome to Wellington' like it was a formal greeting. I ducked into a cramped coffee bar afterward, and something about that gust and that laugh made the city feel instantly, unreasonably familiar.
