Porto

Riverside treasure of port wine and azulejos

The journal

I crossed the Dom Luís bridge on foot, port wine cellars lit up across the river like they were competing for attention. A cellar guide let me taste a tawny that predated my parents, then wouldn't tell me the price until after I'd finished it. Porto has that kind of good-natured misdirection everywhere.
