Sintra

Hilltop fairy tale of romantic palaces

The journal

Fog rolled through the hills so thick that Pena Palace appeared and disappeared like something imagined. I hiked up instead of taking the tuk-tuk, and a groundskeeper at the Moorish Castle pointed out a lizard sunning on the wall as though introducing me to a resident. Sintra felt half-real the whole day.
