The HS numbers chapters 01–97 (chapter 77 is reserved for future HS use); chapters 98–99 are reserved for countries' national use. International codes run to 6 digits, with national lines beyond that (8 digits in India's ITC-HS, 10 in the EU TARIC and US HTS).

Confirm in the official classifiers

• WCO Trade Tools — the World Customs Organization's official HS nomenclature (current edition, with legal notes).
• India — ICEGATE and CBIC — India's customs portal and tariff (8-digit ITC-HS), with duty calculator; see also DGFT for the ITC-HS policy per line.
• EU — TARIC consultation — the EU's integrated tariff (10-digit), showing duties and measures per line.
• US — Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) — the United States 10-digit tariff, searchable free.

Honest note: only a customs authority (or a binding ruling — India advance ruling, EU BTI, US CBP ruling) can fix your classification. Headings turn on section/chapter legal notes and the General Rules of Interpretation, not just keywords.
