The journal

I spent an afternoon in Mendoza pedaling a rusty bicycle between vineyards, stopping at each bodega until the Andes in the distance looked pleasantly blurred. A winemaker poured me a Malbec straight from the barrel, no ceremony, just his thumb over the spigot. I never wrote down which vineyard it was, and I regret that.
