A Coimbatore-based industrial pump manufacturer had been selling to Indian process industries for 15 years. They identified a EUR 3M annual opportunity with a Dutch water treatment company who required CE-marked pumps under the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The manufacturer had no CE marking experience, no EU technical documentation, and no Declaration of Conformity.
AJG connected the manufacturer with a CE marking consultancy in the Netherlands experienced in machinery compliance. Applicable directives identified: Machinery Directive (primary), ATEX (for hazardous location variants), Pressure Equipment Directive (for certain high-pressure models). Harmonised EN standards (EN ISO 809 for centrifugal pumps) were identified. Technical documentation compiled including risk assessment, test reports from NABL-accredited lab, and operating manual translation to Dutch. Self-declaration (Module A) conformity route used for non-safety-critical pump models. EU Declaration of Conformity drafted.
CE marking achieved for first product range at month 6. First EUR 450,000 order from Dutch water treatment company placed at month 8. Annual contract value reached EUR 2.8M by month 18. EU authorised representative appointed (Netherlands) to hold technical documentation. CE marking expanded to 3 additional pump ranges.
