Tooting (South Indian + Sri Lankan), Wembley (Gujarati + Punjabi), Southall (Sikh + Pakistani Punjabi), East Ham + Ilford (Tamil + Kerala), Brick Lane (Bengali) — entire neighbourhoods are regionally Indian. Restaurant quality at the top tier (Tamarind, Trishna, Gymkhana, Kricket, Dishoom) is genuinely excellent; the neighbourhood-tier is even better value. Groceries: every major supermarket carries Patak's; Wembley and Tooting have proper subziwallahs.
Brampton, Mississauga's Heartland district, Scarborough's Markham Road corridor — entire suburbs are Indian-default. Punjabi cuisine dominates due to community demographics, but South Indian (Saravanaa Bhavan, Annalakshmi, Aroma Fine Indian) and Gujarati options exist. Little India (Serangoon Road) is the densest South Indian restaurant cluster outside India. Komala's Restaurant, Annalakshmi, Banana Leaf Apolo deliver Tamil-style food at high quality. Indian groceries (Mustafa, Tekka Centre) are open 24 hours and stock everything from snake gourds to fresh curry leaves. Cost-of-living is the trade-off; expect SGD 15-30 for a sit-down vegetarian meal.
Brickfields (KL's Little India) and Bangsar are the dense Indian districts. South Indian quality at Vishal Food and Catering, Sri Pyramid, Kanna Curry House matches Tamil Nadu. Jackson Heights (Queens) is the authentic regional-cuisine cluster — Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, all separately available. Murray Hill / Curry Hill (Manhattan) is the upmarket version with restaurants like Junoon, Indian Accent, Bombay Bread Bar. Edison NJ is the suburban Punjabi cluster (15-min train from Penn Station). Groceries: Patel Bros, Apna Bazaar, Subzi Mandi.
Harris Park, Liverpool, Strathfield are the Indian-density suburbs. Punjabi and Gujarati communities dominate; South Indian options exist at Saravanaa Bhavan, Manjit's, and a growing scene around Westmead. Grocery infrastructure is good (Indian Bazaar, Pearl Indian Grocers). Costs are moderate. The 9-10 hour time difference from US clients constrains professional applications.
Sandringham, Mount Roskill, Papatoetoe are Indian-density suburbs. South Indian options at Mahatma Gandhi Centre, Punjab Sweet House, and Tip Top dosa places. Surrey is the dense Punjabi suburb (the largest Punjabi diaspora community outside Punjab). Sweet houses, dhabas, paranthe places. Sunnyvale, Fremont, Milpitas, San Jose suburbs concentrate the South Asian tech-worker population. South Indian quality at Komala Vilas, Saravanaa Bhavan, Madras Cafe rivals Tamil Nadu. Punjabi at Amber India. Groceries (Bharat Bazaar, India Cash and Carry, Patel Brothers) are dense. Cost is the trade-off — Bay Area rents are punishing.
Rusholme's "Curry Mile" is the headline cluster, though it has shrunk in recent years. The newer concentration is Cheetham Hill and Longsight. Quality at the top tier (Asha's, Indian Tiffin Room) is good; mid-tier is variable. Groceries: Worldwide Foods, Patel Brothers Manchester. Cost-of-living is significantly lower than London.
United Kingdom
Birmingham invented the Balti and the Balti Triangle (Sparkbrook, Balsall Heath, Moseley) is a 30-restaurant cluster. South Indian and Sri Lankan options exist around Soho Road and Coventry Road. Punjabi sweet houses are everywhere. Groceries (Wing Yip Mega Centre, Asian Foodstore) are plentiful. Cost-of-living is far below London.
United Kingdom
Belgrave Road ("Golden Mile") is one of the densest Gujarati restaurant clusters in the world — Bobby's, Mirch Masala, Sayonara Thali. The Diwali celebrations on Belgrave Road are the largest outside India. Cost-of-living is the lowest in the UK list. The trade-off is that Leicester is a smaller city — fewer professional opportunities, less variety beyond Indian/Gujarati.
Mouraria is the Indian district. Saravanaa Bhavan, Hospital de Brincar, Sabores do Sul, Rabindranath Tagore — South Indian and Goan-Portuguese fusion options. Quality is good but density is far below the UK or Toronto. Groceries: Mercado de Forno do Tijolo has Indian basics; specialised stocks require Lisboa Mercearias Indianas. Cost is moderate for an EU capital.
Hong Kong
Tsim Sha Tsui (especially Chungking Mansions) is the dense Indian-district. Punjabi and South Indian options at Khyber Pass Mess Club, Bombay Dreams, Saravanaa Bhavan. Quality is variable but pockets are excellent. Groceries: Chungking Mansions ground floor, Wan Chai. Costs are high — HKD 150-300 for a sit-down vegetarian meal. The Hong Kong-residency complications since 2020 are the structural counter.
